Dear colleagues!
The Foreign Policy Research Institute, with the support of the General Directorate for the Servicing of Foreign Missions, invites you to participate in a roundtable discussion for foreign diplomatic missions, leading Ukrainian media, and the expert community on the topic:"World Order After the End of the Third World War" which will take place on May 29, 2025, from 11:00 to 13:10, at the Media Center of the General Directorate for the Servicing of Foreign Missions, located at 6a Pyrohova Street, Kyiv.
During the roundtable, the following conceptual issues will be discussed:
- Whether multipolarity, a return to unipolarity, bipolarity, or tripolarity in the international system is determined by the balance of power.
- Is achieving a just peace possible in the context of the Third World War (regarding the Russian-Ukrainian peace)?
- The interests of key players in the reshaping of the world order:
• USA – global leader or regional actor?
• China – regional actor or global hegemon?
• Russia – regional or global superpower?
• Europe – American partner or autonomous global player?
• Ukraine – victim of war or regional leader? - Who will emerge as the victor of the Third World War?
- The dismantling of the Yalta system and a return to a new bipolarity of the USA + Russia.
- The prospect of a U.S.-Russia alliance based on Russia's Eurasian project and U.S. non-isolationism in containing China.
- Whether China can shift the U.S.-centric world to a China-centric one depends on Russia. China + Russia = USA as a transitional phase of shifting power balances.
- Where is the boundary for global compromise to achieve stable peace after the Third World War?
- Can a tripolar world serve as such a system, with Russia receiving Eurasia including all of Europe, the USA retaining North and Central America, and China gaining Southeast and South Asia with influence claims over Africa and Latin America?
- In what international system can Europe become an autonomous global geopolitical player?
- What is Ukraine’s place in a multipolar, unipolar, bipolar, or tripolar system of international relations?
Participants will include:
