Dear colleagues!
The Foreign Policy Research Institute, with the support of the Directorate-General for Rendering Services to Diplomatic Missions, invites you to take part in a roundtable discussion for foreign diplomatic missions, leading Ukrainian media and experts on the topic: "Security guarantees for Ukraine: can they be an alternative to NATO membership", which will be held on 30 May 2024, from 11:00 to 13:10, in the Directorate-General for Rendering Services to Diplomatic Missions at 6-a Pirogova Street.
The following issues are planned to be discussed during the roundtable:
- The Ukrainian version of security guarantees in comparison with other formats of security agreements (NATO membership, CSTO, Budapest Memorandum, security models of US-Israeli cooperation, economic recovery and defence support to South Korea and Japan, NATO Enhanced Opportunities Programmes, etc;)
- The purpose of security guarantees: collective defence, deterrence of attack or self-defence of Ukraine?
- Kyiv Security Treaty and its requirements for Ukraine's security guarantees;
- Principles, spheres, and application of security guarantees for Ukraine: The content of guarantees, legal aspects and mechanisms for implementing security guarantees for Ukraine: expectations, recommendations and actual results.

Working language: Ukrainian with simultaneous translation into English.
