ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE ROUND TABLE "UKRAINE IN THE NEGOTIATION PROCESS FOR ACCESSION TO THE EU: CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF EUROPEAN LEGISLATION"

The Department of International Relations and Foreign Policy of the Educational and Research Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv together with the Institute for Foreign Policy Studies with the assistance of the Directorate General for Services to Foreign Missions organise a round table on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Department of IRFP on the topic: "Ukraine in the negotiation process on EU accession: challenges and prospects for the implementation of European legislation", which will be attended by graduates and students of the Institute, veterans of diplomatic missions. The event will take place on 3 April 2024, from 11:00 to 13:10, at the Media Centre of the Directorate General for the Service of Foreign Missions at 6-a Pirogova St.

The main goal of the event is to analyse and discuss the negotiation process of Ukraine's accession to the EU, identify key challenges and define possible strategies for further progress of Ukraine on its way to EU membership.

The following issues will be discussed during the roundtable:

1. The state of negotiations and the general political situation in the EU on the eve of the European Parliament elections: An overview of the current state of negotiations and future steps in the process, political challenges in the course of EU reform and EU enlargement policy.

2. Institutional readiness of Ukraine: Discussion of reforms needed to improve Ukraine's political and institutional framework in the context of EU requirements.

3. Economic challenges and prospects: Analysis of the economic aspects of Ukraine's accession to the EU, including the need for reforms and adaptation to the EU internal market.

4. Implementation of the Ukraine Facility: The main challenges in implementing the reforms envisaged by the Ukraine Plan.

5. The role of the EU and Member States in monitoring the implementation and disbursement of funds under the Ukraine Facility
