Russia’s demand for compensations for Crimea is only a propaganda

On March 15, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin said that Ukraine "annexed" Crimea for 25 years and has to pay "compensation" to Russia. He said this in the occupied Crimea he visited in connection with the fifth anniversary of occupation of the Ukrainian peninsula. Thus, he stressed that "Ukraine has treated the Crimea very, very dishonestly, violated the fundamental rights of citizens: the right to language, the right to education in their native language, destroyed the economy of Crimea and Sevastopol, in fact, the annexation." «In this regard, based on the proposal, let's instruct our profile committees together with the profile committees of the "State Council of Crimea" to study this question, analyze, calculate how much the Crimean economy lost due to the destructive policy of Ukraine, which was imposed here, how many people have lost, what rights have been violated and through our parliamentary structures, European structures we will oblige Ukraine to compensate for what Crimea has lost for the last 25 years», - he said, informs "Unian".

Volodin also proposed to study the EU's responsibility for the socio-economic situation of Crimea, taking into account the EU's support for Ukraine. "As for the money, it is necessary to calculate how much Ukraine owes and what debts will be shared by the European Union, since Ukraine is still supported by the European Union, ," Volodin said, as reported by Unian".[1]

The head of the Ukrainian delegation to the PACE, people's deputy (Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction) Volodymyr Ariev in the context of the claim of the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin that Ukraine should compensate the Crimea " losses for 25 years ", believes that Russia will not stop in its hostile attitude to Ukraine. "The Chairman of the State Duma wants with the help of European structures to bill Ukraine for the stay of Crimea as part of Ukraine. (...) Do you think they will stop their cynicism and hostility to Ukraine? It will continue and will be tough", - Volodymyr Ariev posted on the Facebook page on Friday, informs "Interfax-Ukraine".

The claim of the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin who wants to oblige Ukraine to compensate the Crimea "economic losses" for being in its part is nothing more than propaganda. Volodymyr Fesenko, chairman of the Board of the Center for Applied Political Studies «Penta» said this in a comment to the website "Сегодня". According to him, now Russia is trying to use a scheme that is traditionally used against itself. "There can be no practical consequences here. Moreover, now, rather, Russia faces various fines and judicial consequences in connection with the annexation of Crimea. It's more realistic. And the fact that Ukraine needs something to compensate for the Crimea, can not be taken seriously. It's propaganda, that's all. They can appeal to anyone. The vast majority of countries do not recognize the annexation of Crimea", – says Fesenko, reports "Сегодня". The same opinion is shared by the Yevgeny Magda, Executive Director of the Institute of World Policy. An expert calls Volodin's claim a "nonsense".

This claim of the head of the Russian "mad printer" so contemptuously call Russians their "Parliament" - is timed to the anniversary of seizing the peninsula by Russian troops, holding a counterfeit referendum and annexation of the peninsula by Russia. Volodin probably thinks that he made a very witty statement, shifted the responsibility from a sick head to a healthy one, forced to discuss a completely different aspect of the problem. It is clear that his claim does not withstand any criticism, especially after the majority of Crimeans in this referendum in 1991 supported Ukrainian independence, and Russia in several international treaties recognized the territorial integrity of our country. With Crimea and Sevastopol. But in fact, it is not necessary to polemize with Volodin.

We should just be happy with this farce. Because the very fact of the nomination against Ukraine "mirror" accusations against to those against Russia is the evidence that Volodin is well aware of what his country has done. After all, he simply rewrote the list of claims, but changed the name of the victim and the aggressor. That's all. And this means that Volodin is well aware of what actually happened. And speaking of annexation, he helps Russian society to understand what it is. It may happen that after the collapse of Putin's regime Volodin will have to manage the adoption of the State Duma documents that eliminate the consequences of the annexation of Crimea by Russia. We can only rejoice that the speaker of the lower house of the Russian Parliament has already begun to prepare for this inevitable process.[2]

Such a claim by Volodin should be taken as an unconditional example of propaganda that is trying to justify the illegal occupation of the Crimean peninsula and disguise the chaos that Russia sowed there. In fact, Russia understands the long shots to win this case, so everything remains in words. The civilized world has long expressed its categorical answer-Crimea is Ukraine.
